The term "rogue-like" is a video game term. According to the geniuses on wikipedia, the definition of a rogue-like is in reference to the procedurally generated dungeon crawls and the threat of perma-death of the classic 1980 game Rogue. A rogue-like means you put yourself into a new, ever changing, ever randomizing situation each time, never the same experience.

"Rhode-like" is a terrible pun on this term, invented by al Riggs. It is both a reference to the exclusive use of midi electric pianos on this new album (also called Rhode-like) and the randomization of the notes turning themselves into drum patterns in real time happening all throughout the album.

Using only midi electric piano to create the soundscape surrounding their mostly unadorned vocals, al reimagines 7 of their favorite songs and two covers of most-played favorites. It's a shimmering, warbling, glitchy end to a year of extreme stress and extreme artistic success, two things that go so hand-in-hand they could be considered to be al's brand.
