This was a song that started out as this really weird percussion-laden indie rock song and ended up turning into a guitar-and-vocals only track. I liked adding the weird vibrating effect to the guitar, and it sounds good especially when it's being played high up on the neck like it is. The lyrics are about someone after a bad breakup; they go from wanting to exact revenge to admitting that they actually miss the person they broke up with. Confliction, ho!
lyrics
Thinking 'bout a number between 1 and 42
Doesn't matter if you get it right or wrong
I'm still mad at you
I wanna grab you by the ears and pull you back home
Until you finally admit that I'm not
Better off alone
Writing letters to the girl who owns a submarine
It's quite a long way down underwater
15,000 leagues
Until your head explodes from pressure from the
Underwater walls
I won't miss you at all
OK, I will
'Cause there's nothing for me here above ground
Looking for the splendid sound
Of silent pleas for sanity
You really affected me

Phil makes sometimes quiet, sometimes ear shattering, always pretty and dense records and this one is no different. As big as all outdoors and as small as a small wooden shack, as to be expected. al Riggs
Dance to this all night and then the morning and then the afternoon until your legs turn to noodles or the landlord starts a-knocking on your floor/their ceiling with a broom. Whichever happens first. al Riggs
Landlady live is a force of nature, on record they are just as gorgeous and anxious as they are in the Flesh World. More Nervous Energy for those who like tremendous drumming and proper earworms. al Riggs
The wonderfully understated folk songs on the new EP from Emma Geiger recall the best of The Softies and early Mary Lou Lord. Bandcamp New & Notable May 9, 2022
